About us
The Australia Sir Lanka Welfare Guild was founded by Mr Shelton Leslie Schokman Snr in 1976. We are a community based organisation with historical ties to the Dematagoda Christian Guild. The ASWG was founded to promote:
- Fellowship with each other
- Create a better understanding among all communities we associate with
- To work together for the betterment of the community
- To help whenever possible, those in distress.
Our motto "By love serve one another." remains steadfast in our hearts. We extend our hand in love and fellowship not only to our neighbours in Australia but also to the wider community in Sri Lanka and beyond. Not only to all denominations of the Christian faith, but to all religions.
The efforts of all those people who have worked so hard over the years is a reminder that we have an individual and collective responsibility to ensure the continuance of the Australia Sri Lanka Welfare Guild to perpetuity within the fabric of its simple message "By love serve one another."
